I am thankful for Pastor Phill Knuth.

I recently learned of the resignation of Pastor Phill Knuth, the Youth Pastor at the church at which I grew up, Brookside Community Church in Fort Wayne, IN. This initially deeply saddened me, though I am encouraged by his joy and am excited for his future both in ministry and as a father and husband. He has been like an older brother to me since we met, and I cannot adequately express my profound thanks for him in words. But here, I will try. The Big Day

On October 27, 2007, while watching her stand on stage as Maid of Honor in her sister’s wedding, I decided that I would do everything in my power to join Susie on such a platform one day, and today, that day has come.

For any of you that know us, you’ll know that I made that decision amidst a difficult time in our relationship, and many more difficult times would certainly follow, but by the grace of God, I will join Susie on stage today and vow to love her as Christ has first loved me, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Susie and I have been the best of friends since the eighth grade, and I can’t imagine anyone else I would rather give my life to love and lead than her.

God has been exceedingly gracious in each of our lives before we knew each other all the way through to today. We are so grateful for the ways in which he has blessed us, and for the trials he has allowed us to endure so that we may become more like his Son, Jesus Christ, who was tested in every way. While there are surely plenty of blessings and trials ahead of us, we are confident that God will work through us to bring glory to himself regardless of what mistakes we make or victories we achieve.

To those of you who have the opportunity to join us today, we can’t wait to see you! And to those of you who either cannot make it or were not invited (sorry, we had limited space, though we wanted to invite everyone we kn0w), we ask that you would pray for us any time today. Pray specifically that God would be glorified amidst all that is happening throughout the day, and pray that he would give us the peace that surpasses all understanding, as all of this change will surely take some getting used to.

We’re so thankful for all of you, and I’m so thankful for all of you that follow this blog. My hope is that soon enough we’ll start a Martin Family Blog, but that would require me to convince Susie to participate.  :D

Thank you for all of your support, and please pray for us today. God is good, it is by his grace we are able to celebrate as we are today. May he be glorified in it all.
