First of all I would like to apologize for not posting these past couple weeks. Before Christmas break I was really busy finishing projects and cramming for finals, and since winter break I have simply been, lazy. So I apologize for my inconsistency and I wish to become consistent again.
Friends, on Monday, December 29, 2008, Drew Pearson, Pastor Jim Pearson and Mrs. Linda Pearson’s eldest son, was killed in a car accident in Florida. He was reportedly leaving the hospital to go home after spending the night with his wife, Emily, and newborn baby daughter, Peyton. Emily gave birth to Peyton on Sunday.
Tonight Brookside Church hosted a prayer service in memory of Drew, and I would like to run through what happened at the service, so if you wish, you can pray for all parties affected by this loss as we all prayed tonight at Brookside.
First, you can pray for Comfort. Just pray that both the Holbs (Emily’s family) and the Pearsons can find comfort in our sovreign God, and know that what he is doing is right. Please pray for baby Peyton, as she can be such a beautiful gift of life in a time in which we mourn the death of her father.
Second, please pray for Peace. Pray that not only the families, but all friends and loved ones involved can find Peace in what has happened, and that they will have the calm assurance that what God is doing is right. The Lord knows what He is doing, whether we like it or not, it fits into his plan somehow. He is the Prince of Peace.
Third, please pray for Direction. I’m sure many people are so confused, so turned around they don’t know where to look or where to turn. But pray that they find what path God wants them to walk down with Him, and that they do so to glorify His name, and that they do it with praise and thanksgiving.
Fourth, please pray for Perseverance. Pray that once they know what the Lord wants them to do, that they do it to the best of their ability, all day, everyday, for no other purpose than to bring glory to Him, and show others His love. Please allow the Pearsons and Holbs to show Christ’s love, even in their grief, so that more light may be brought to His name.
And finally, pray for Hope. Pray that the families always understand and remember that there is nothing more concrete, nothing more true or holy to cling to and grasp than the Hope that was ushered in by the sacrifice of Christ. That hope transcends all understanding and can conquer any fear or grief. Please pray that everyone affected by Drew’s Earthly departure and Heavenly arrival sees that there is no Hope greater than the Hope provided by the Son’s sacrifice.
Thank you for your much needed and desired prayers. They are much appreciated.
